TOME — THE LEARNING ENGINE
Run a training program that can prove who's certified.
Courses, quizzes, grading and certificates, on the same foundation as everything else we build. The Learning engine is the part of Tome made for teaching. Lessons sit in courses, quizzes grade themselves and assignments go to an instructor. Every certificate can be checked by anyone with a phone.

Most course platforms rent you a classroom next door to your site.
A course platform hosts the lessons on its own domain, keeps the student records in its own database, and charges by the seat or by the sale. Your site links out to it. A member who signs in on your site has a second account over there. The question that matters most (who's certified, and until when) lives in an export you download each month.
Training has rules of its own. Which course has to come first. How many tries a quiz gets, and how long a learner waits between them. Who grades an assignment. When a certification lapses, and what renews it. The Learning engine keeps those rules in your own Payload admin, against the same member accounts the rest of the site already uses.
What's in it
Everything between enrolling and getting certified.
Academies, courses, topics and lessons,
drafted and published in the Payload admin. A lesson can sit in more than one course, and a step can stay locked until the one before it is done.
Enrollment and progress lesson by lesson,
so each learner sees how far along they are and you can see where people stall.
Quizzes that grade themselves
and keep every attempt, with a limit on tries and a wait between them.
Assignment uploads that an instructor grades,
with the marks collected in a gradebook.
Certifications awarded the moment a learner qualifies,
each with an expiry date and a renewal path. They print from the browser, and a public page confirms them from a QR code. A certification can also grant a role, so passing a course can open the next responsibility.
Points, badges, achievements and a leaderboard,
along with training events, attendance and instructor schedules.
A learner area that's ready on day one:
the course player, a dashboard of enrollments and grades, course landing sections, and a catalog of everything on offer.

Certifications for a 700-member organization, today.
A 700-member organization runs its academies, courses, exam tickets and certification awards on this engine's data model. It's our own build. It puts its own interface on top, which is how we know the data model holds up without ours.
You can walk the learner side on our demo store without an account, starting from the course catalog.
- It doesn't host video. A lesson plays video through a player you already pay for, such as Mux or Vimeo.
- Certificates print from the browser. There's no PDF file generated for you.
- Quiz questions are written inside the lesson they belong to. There's no shared question bank yet.
- There are no drip schedules or cohort start dates, and no SCORM or xAPI import.
Five videos and a PDF don't need an engine.
A members-only page does that. The engine starts earning its keep once you need to know who passed, who's due to renew and who's waiting on a grade.
Getting it
$300 a year, or included with Agency.
Add it to any plan, including the free one.
It installs the course engine, the learner area and the points and badges. Agency already includes every engine. The Learning Blocks pack, for course sections on your marketing pages, comes with the Craft Library and every paid plan, or costs $49 on its own.
The quickstart walks through the wiring, and if you're weighing a hosted course platform instead, the comparison lays the two side by side.
