FLOWSTATE SYSTEMS · WELLNESS / D2C
A dual-product wellness platform: focus app and nootropic store, built as one system.
THE BUILD
WHAT IT WAS
Two products, designed and built to work as one.
FlowState Systems is a wellness brand combining a binaural-beats focus app with a direct-to-consumer nootropic supplement store. The two products were designed and built to work as an integrated system — positioning the combination as greater than either product alone.

Inner-space explorers.
The whole system was built around a single idea: users as “inner-space explorers.” The astronaut metaphor ran through the interface, the copy, the packaging, and the identity — one coherent world across the app and the store.
THE TWO SURFACES
Two product surfaces, one brand system.
The app was a binaural-beats focus application, built around the “inner-space explorer” metaphor that carried through the interface, the copy, and the identity.
The store was a Shopify-backed nootropic supplement storefront, wired to the same brand system and analytics stack as the app — so cross-product behavioral data flowed from day one, and the two products read as one experience rather than two.
The two products read as one experience rather than two.

A focus app, built to the metaphor.
The binaural-beats focus application carried the astronaut concept into the product itself — the interface, the session flow, and the language all framed the user as an explorer of their own inner space.

A supplement line, packaged for the same world.
The direct-to-consumer nootropic line was designed and packaged to live in the same brand world as the app — the astronaut identity carried onto the product so the store and the app read as one offering, not two SKUs.
THE INTEGRATION
The hard part was making three systems behave as one.
The core engineering challenge was connecting a WordPress content layer, a Shopify e-commerce backend, and a custom analytics pipeline into a single seamless experience — a non-trivial integration in 2020. Custom development bridged the platforms so data flowed automatically across the stack.
The information architecture led with education: the site opened on flow-state science before it presented products — a content-first hierarchy that balanced depth with a clear path to purchase.
WHAT THAT TOOK
- Platform integration — a WordPress content layer, a Shopify commerce backend, and a custom analytics pipeline bridged into one experience.
- Content architecture — education-first information design, flow-state science ahead of products, depth balanced against a clear path to purchase.

WordPress, Shopify, and a custom analytics bridge.
Three systems, one experience: a WordPress content layer for the education-first site, a Shopify backend for the store, and a custom analytics pipeline that tracked behaviour across both products — bridged so the data moved on its own.

The product, in the words of the people who used it.
Public App Store reviews of the focus app. We don’t publish FlowState’s internal business figures — those are the owner’s to share — but the app’s reception is public, and it speaks to the thing we actually built.
THE SHAPE OF THE WORK
Two products, built to behave as one.
FlowState was a single coherent platform — a binaural focus app and a direct-to-consumer supplement store, designed from one brand system, wired to one analytics stack, and bridged across WordPress and Shopify so the two read as one experience. The craft wasn’t either product on its own; it was making them behave as a single thing.
